I won’t forget the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It was one mundane night when I was six years old then,  patiently waiting for my parents to come home. I was with my grandparents and my uncle in the house. They are watching the television while I stand still in the front door hoping that when it opens my mom and dad will show up.

My uncle told me to sit with him, he narrated the story about Goldilocks and the Three Bears and I listened carefully. Aware that I became interested with the story-telling, my grandma acted as the mother bear while my grandpa was the father bear and uncle, the baby bear.

But instead of porridge, they brought out something like cupcakes. I took a piece from my grandpa and I don’t like it. I tried another from my grandma but it don’t taste good either. Then I turned to my uncle and he gave me a golden brown piece-like cupcake, when I took a bite, I was delighted for it really suits my taste.

For a while, I forgot that I’m waiting for my parents. I was quietly munching on the food my uncle gave me and asked what it is. He said that it’s Macapuno-Cheese from Goldilocks.

And then my parents came and gave me my pasalubong - six pieces cupcake like, the same as what my uncle gave me - Macapuno-Cheese! All of us enjoyed eating it while watching television.

From then on, it became my favorite Goldilocks product. Until today, even if it don’t resemble a cupcake but much more look like a tart, I still love eating Macapuno-Cheese. Even the product can only be found in major Goldilocks outlet, I still go there to buy it for myself and my son who also patiently waits for me to go home and hand him a Macapuno-Cheese as pasalubong.

Indeed, you’re the 1, Goldilocks because you can bring my family, regardless of generation, closer together.

When school is over, I like my child to have a meaningful and worth while vacation. I want him to learn things that he can’t learn in school, enjoy his childhood and make more friends. That is why I let him join some summer activities available in our community like enrolling him in a Kids Scout where he became the public relations officer.

The recent activity taught him about history of the largest fast food chain in the country, proper hygiene, food preparation and customer service. Aside from that, he was taught about the cooking procedure of his favorite burger. He even experienced how to encourage his fellow children to join the said kids club.

I remember when I was still as young as him, I often convince my mother to allow me to join the school summer activities with my classmates. But she did not allow me, instead, I got a surprise from her because we attended Summer Camps with our relatives and family friend. The activity includes family games like treasure hunting, trekking adventure and swimming.

I told my child stories about that memory and he like to experience the same so I am planning a Summer Camp for my kids and my family to enjoy this summer.

Aside from the pandemic AH1N1 flu, I am worried with the rising case of dengue in the country. I don’t want to happen again what we’ve been through when Ponks almost lost his life because of a mosquito bite. Thanks God he survived his fight for life.

Its rainy days and we have mosquitoes at home and because we don’t know which one carries dengue or malaria, protection is a must. Cleaning the house and removing still water in the surroundings can help control the spread of mosquitoes. I also make sure that Ponks use his mosquito repelant lotion now that I am not in control while he is in school or outside the house.

I don’t want mosquitoes to take chance again on my family’s health especially through these hard times.

No amount of money can compensate your failure in the family.

I was deeply thinking about this and yes I almost come to the point of deciding not to go back to work. Seven years of full time work created a gap between me and my better half and I was not able to be a hands-on mom to my son. I know I cannot fill it anymore but know that I have another child, I wanted to make sure that I can give her my 100 percent attention.

Time moves fast and I am not getting younger, besides my compensation today cannot give enough for a living. I have enjoyed my career though it never take me to where I wanted so I guess this time its time to take the road less traveled…the road to home.

I’m going to it one step at a time, because there are still unfinished business in the workplace but I will make sure that by the end of this year, I am at peace in my own home with my family.

Good memories never lasts. We visited their grandparent’s grave last weekend after a relative’s interment. The kids were so blessed that they have experienced love and care from their grandparents even only in a short time.

I took this picture when Kiat was about to sleep after finishing her milk. She  looked so mad at me because I am disturbing her sweet sleep.
