The Commission on Elections (Comelec) received more than 70 certificate of candidacies for presidential aspirants in the last day of filing yesterday. Although the applications will be subjected to screening before the Comelec finally reveal the shortlist, the question will still be - how well do Filipinos know the presidential wannabes? Yes, they have publicity bannering in newspapers, late night news and talk shows but I believe these are not enough to know them better. Giving them one question to answer is not sufficient to weigh their capacity in handling the country. Imagine if more than 10 presidential aspirants will vie for the leadership, how will the people understand their platforms? A substancial platform is very important factor in leadership. Sad to say, many voters do not realize its significance and many still vote for those who are famous and not for those who are eligible and fit to lead the Philippines towards progress. I know we practice democracy, but if I were to choose, I’d like to have only two presidential contenders because the people can easily screen them and can choose who among the two is the right one to direct us. How about you? I want to know your opinion about having multiple presidential candidates. If you like my post, please subscribe to my RSS feedPost a comment
